Richmond, VA – Following their successful completion of Pier 6 at the New London Submarine base, American Bridge (AB), wins contract worth $35.2 million to construct another pier in Groton, Connecticut, number 31. Over this 25 month project AB will self-perform the demolition of the existing pier, cast in place concrete deck work as well as construct and design temporary work trestles (from which most of the work will be undertaken). Additionally, the 36” steel pipes the pier is founded upon will be driven, excavated and filled with concrete by AB in the Thames River. Expected completion date is July 2011.
